About Alamo Maxillofacial Surgical Associates, P.A.

“Providing Premier Oral and Maxillofacial Surgical services to San Antonio and the Surrounding Hill Country in an Available, Affordable and Accessible Manner”

Alamo Maxillofacial Surgical Associates, PA began in June of 1998 with the merger of two existing medical practices in the San Antonio area. At that time, Robert Johnson, Steve Buckley and BD Tiner joined forces with Jim Franco and Whit Rominger to form a comprehensive, quality oral surgical practice.

The two practices were located within blocks of each other in the Medical Center so we embarked on our first expansion right away and opened a new office in the Stone Oak area in 1999. In November of 2006, Wendell Edgin joined the group in an effort to better serve the needs of our patients in San Antonio and in the Hill Country area and in April of 2007, we opened our third office location in Boerne, Texas.

Our group has continued to grow and offer full-scope oral and maxillofacial surgical services ranging from traditional dentoalveolar procedures (wisdom teeth extraction and dental implants) to cosmetic services, complicated facial reconstruction and cancer reconstruction.

In December of 2012, after 57 years of oral surgery service through military appointment and private practice, our senior partner and mentor, Bob Johnson, retired from private practice. Dr. Johnson’s legacy and commitment to patient care and the specialty continue to be the foundation for our practice. In May of 2016, Adam Verrett joined the group upon his separation of service from the United States Air Force and in July of 2016, Andrew Hanna joined the group upon completion of his residency training program in oral and maxillofacial surgery.

We continue to offer full-scope oral and maxillofacial surgical services and maintain active hospital privileges for Methodist Healthcare System (Methodist Hospital, Methodist Specialty and Transplant and Methodist Stone Oak).

Our commitment to quality and safe patient care is evident not only by the caliber of our surgeons, but also our staff. We require that our surgical assistants successfully complete the Dental Anesthesia Assistant National Certifying Examination (D.A.A.N.C.E.) every five years to maintain certification and stay abreast of current topics and safe delivery and monitoring of our patients. Additionally, all business and clinical staff undergo CPR training and recertification every two years and, in addition to basic life support training, our surgeons maintain current licensure in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
