Alamo Maxillofacial Surgical Associates, P.A. is committed to ensuring your visits with us are pleasant and professional. Consequently, we understand the importance you place on the quality and the safety of services we provide. Our company has met the challenge of protecting both patient and employee while providing comprehensive, quality healthcare in the following ways:

Protection of Employees and Patients:

During your contact with doctors and staff at our office, you will notice that employees of Alamo Maxillofacial Surgical Associates, P.A. wear lab coats, gloves, masks and goggles when anticipating contact with patient fluids. This system is referred to as barrier protection and you may hear us mention this term periodically. Additionally, our offices subject all surgical instruments to meticulous and monitored sterilization techniques including steam heat autoclaving of all drills and instruments prior to the treatment of every patient. Our office uses disposable needles, blades and burrs to further minimize the risk of cross contamination. As added protection, office waste products are separated and disposed in specialized ways according to hazardous waste designation.

Vaccination and Infectious Disease Testing:

Our doctors and all of our employees who may be exposed to patient blood have taken the appropriate vaccination to protect from contracting Hepatitis B and/or Tuberculosis. We take extra precautions above what is federally and locally mandated and hope that, in the event an accident occurs in which an employee or doctor is injured by a contaminated instrument, you would agree to be tested for HIV at our expense.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Training:

All of our employees, including the administrative staff, are required to maintain certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).Our doctors maintain certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), as well as, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), more extensive and comprehensive versions of adult and pediatric CPR. Additionally, each office has an established emergency protocol system to ensure that, in the event a medical emergency occurs, we are able to respond quickly and accurately in the best interest of our patients. Our surgical assistants are not only registered with the State Board of Dental Examiners and maintain appropriate continuing education to ensure this licensure is maintained but have also successfully completed the Dental Anesthesia Assistants National Certification Examination process (DAANCE).

OSHA:

Alamo Maxillofacial Surgical Associates, P.A. complies with all aspects of stiff regulations from OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration). To ensure we remain current with all regulations, we undergo annual OSHA training and have recently created an online process to ensure compliance and training happens regularly without interruption. Our company has a designated OSHA compliance officer to ensure that we meet the existing regulations and to keep our office in compliance as new regulations are mandated by this agency.

Anesthesia:

As part of their medical training, our doctors have undergone extensive training in administration of anesthesia in the office. Each surgical room is equipped with the necessary monitoring devices to ensure patient safety while under anesthesia. Our doctors and staff have undergone additional voluntary office anesthesia evaluations performed by The Texas Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons to ensure that we are handling our patients under all types of anesthesia in accordance with generally accepted standards of medical care.

Equipment:

We follow all requirements for maintaining our radiographic equipment and have a designated Radiation Safety Officer for the company. In addition, we complete annual testing of all medical and dental equipment in the office through Physician Sales and Services (PSS) to ensure that all equipment is operating properly and to proactively manage maintenance of all equipment. Our surgical drills and hand-pieces also are subject to maintenance and inspection annually to ensure proper function.
