James E. Franco, DDS, MD

Oral Surgeon Dr. James E. FrancoDr. Franco received his undergraduate degree from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas in 1981. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 1985. While at UTHSC-SA, he completed his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 1989. In 1992, he received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Dr. Franco went on to complete an Anesthesiology Internship in 1993 and, throughout his medical and dental training, he worked in private practice in San Antonio. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (1992) and a Fellow in the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. In addition to national organizations, he is an active member of the Texas Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and The Southwest Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

He serves as a Clinical Professor for the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and has co-authored several clinical publications. Dr. Franco’s practice is all encompassing and he is well versed in all areas of oral and maxillofacial surgery including facial reconstructive surgery, dental implants, oral pathology, TMJ disorders and the surgical management of obstructive sleep apnea. He has staff privileges at Southwest Texas Methodist Hospital. Dr. Franco lives in San Antonio with his wife and son where he has been in private practice since 1989.
